Nourished Earth was founded in 2025 as a small family-run nursery built on a simple belief: healthy plants start with healthy soil. Alongside our plant nursery, we run a worm farm producing worm castings, worm cast tea and biochar. Every plant is grown in living soil, enriched with our own worm castings and nourished with our own worm tea, helping to create strong, resilient plants while introducing beneficial microbes.

Jay brings over a decade of horticultural experience, including six years maintaining pear and apple orchards across Herefordshire. A passionate grower of vegetables and herbs, he follows no-dig principles and has spent years developing his knowledge of soil biology, biochar, worms, permaculture and regenerative growing techniques. These methods form the foundation of how we grow at Nourished Earth.

Growing plants runs in Jess's family. Her grandfather began by growing strawberry plants before expanding into blackcurrants for Ribena, and her parents later developed the business into a specialist soft fruit nursery supplying both gardeners and commercial growers. Having grown up surrounded by propagation, plant production and sustainable growing practices, Jess brings over 25 years of hands-on experience and a passion for nurturing healthy plants. She shares a fascination with soil health and believes that understanding the life beneath our feet is key to growing stronger, healthier plants naturally.

Today, our three young children are already getting involved—helping in the plant nursery, checking on the worms, planting seeds and learning how to look after the soil. We hope to pass on not only our knowledge, but also a respect for nature and the importance of caring for the soil for future generations. By supporting Nourished Earth, you're supporting a small family business and helping us build a more sustainable future for our children and yours.
