Beginings
I think we sold one bottle of worm tea and a tomato plant that day.
However, the person we sold the worm tea to has since come back for worms and more tea. And hopefully her plants are enjoying the benefits! - Thank you Carolyn!
Our very first stall back in April 2025.
We started VERY small - our first stall was at a local car boot sale. All we took was a few plants, about 10 bottles of "worm tea" and a printed sign with our logo on it.
We took the kids along for morale support. Now they're a big part of what we do. They help with all our ventures, from watering plants, to taking care of our worms.
We even upgraded the size of our bottles for worm tea, all the labels became weatherproof (learnt that lesson!) and the bags for our biochar went from 100g to 450g!
We slowly improved out bottles, labels and banners to try and stand out a bit more.
We trialled the setup at a local plant fair and seemed to attract a bit more attention.
We became regulars at Erwood carboot sale and Bethel Indoor Market in Llanidloes (where we even have an unmanned stall!!)
We then took the leap to become part of a big agricultural show in Brecon - and needed a shelter. So the next step was our new Gazebo!
Through all our markets, shows and other venues - we've made a lot of friends and a lot of connections along the way....
Some mentions are: Bwthyn Blooms, Hay Regenerative Soils, Boarder Flowers, BlackBird Charcoal, Mycobio & The Fungi Folks (the mushroom guys at hay markets), the Bethel Indoor Market crew, Emily at Hay Markets, Sam & Emily at Black Mountain College, Ash & Elm Market Garden, Nant Helyg Garlic Farm, and especially our collaboration with On The Verge and Martin Draper. (Apologies if we've missed anyone!).
Keep an eye out for our stall if you're ever in powys.
Pop by and say hello, have a chat about worms, soil, plants and find out why we all need them!
Thank you to everyone that has supported us and helped us to grow! - Jess, Jay & the rest of the Family......
We've made some amazing friends and connections - took some big risks and had fantastic support and conversations with like minded people.
A lot has changed since we thought of taking the plunge in January and hopefully this isnt just the start of something new for us but something that continues to grow with us.
A Royal Visit!
On the 26th February Bethel Street Market had a visit from HRH Prince William and HRH Princess Kate.
We were lucky enough to be invited to the visit and even got to chat with His Royal Highness abour soil, worms and Biochar!
New products and improved recipes!
This year with help from the guys at the Soil Ecology Lab we've improved on our recipes from last year and added a few extra products for the growing season - including our new potting mix!
Our tea now has a microbial booster which extends the life of the microbes inside, and has an added ingredient to incourage stronger roots, more nutrient uptake and better yields.
Our Biochar is now made from locally organic and sustainable cuttings that come directly from the family fruit farm. We are also upping the anté with a new kiln design being made by Nick Kerner Blacksmith in whitney.
Our new potting mix contains organic coir, as well as our microbial infused biochar as a natural pearlite / vermiculite substitute, as well as worm cast, small wood chip to promote mycellium growth, and an added ingredient to encourage stronger root development, and higher yields.
